OT and IT, unified into one connected operation. — Promation SA
System Integration

OT and IT, unified into one connected operation.

We integrate legacy controls, modern automation, ERP, MES and analytics platforms into a single, observable system — so your data, decisions and assets finally work together.

Overview

From siloed systems to one operational fabric.

Most industrial sites run dozens of systems that do not talk to each other — PLCs, SCADA, BMS, ERP, CMMS, energy meters, lab systems, security. Promation SA bridges OT and IT with vendor-neutral integration: protocol translation, secure middleware, MES and ERP connectivity, historians and unified dashboards that turn fragmented infrastructure into one coherent operation. Architectures follow the Purdue model and IEC 62443, so connectivity never comes at the cost of plant security.

Problems Solved

The operational pain we remove.

Every engagement starts with the production, compliance and cost problems that brought you to us — not a generic feature list.

  • Production and ERP that disagree on what was actually made

Impact: Stock variances, customer complaints and finance teams reconciling spreadsheets instead of analysing margin.

  • Critical data trapped on isolated PLCs and HMIs

Impact: No historian, no traceability for audits, recalls or warranty claims, and no usable basis for OEE or root-cause analysis.

  • Point-to-point integrations built ad-hoc over years

Impact: A brittle web of scripts and ODBC links where every small change breaks something unrelated downstream.

  • Cybersecurity exposure between plant and corporate networks

Impact: Flat networks where a single phishing email or ransomware event can stop production for days.

  • Different teams looking at different versions of the truth

Impact: Operations, maintenance, quality and finance arguing over numbers in meetings instead of acting on them.

  • New systems that have to be 'integrated later'

Impact: Each new asset, line or building adds another silo to manage, increasing cost and slowing every digital initiative.

Key Capabilities

What we engineer, install and support.

01

Protocol translation

Bridge Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, BACnet, KNX, OPC UA, MQTT and proprietary protocols without rewriting field devices.

02

Data historians

Industrial historians and time-series databases sized for years of high-resolution plant, energy and quality data.

03

MES & ERP integration

Bi-directional integration with SAP, Sage, Syspro and modern MES platforms — transactional, validated, and auditable.

04

Unified dashboards

Single-pane operational, maintenance and executive views that aggregate across plants, sites and business systems.

05

Industrial network architecture

Industrial Ethernet, segmented VLANs, redundant rings, OT firewalls and DMZs designed specifically for plant environments.

06

OT cybersecurity

IEC 62443-aligned segmentation, monitoring, secure remote access and incident response playbooks for production environments.

07

Analytics & reporting

OEE, energy, quality and downtime analytics surfaced where decisions are made — control room, manager's inbox or BI tool.

08

Middleware & APIs

Maintainable integration layer using brokers, ESBs and REST APIs that replaces point-to-point spaghetti.

09

Master data alignment

Common naming, tagging and asset hierarchies across OT and IT so every system speaks the same operational language.

Benefits

Why operators choose Promation SA.

End the data silos

One source of truth across plant, business, energy and security systems — not three different versions in three different reports.

Faster decisions

Operational, financial and energy data side-by-side, in real time — enabling decisions that used to take a week of analysis.

Lower integration debt

Replace fragile point-to-point integrations with a maintainable middleware layer that future projects can extend, not work around.

Empowered teams

Operators, maintenance, quality, energy and management each get the view they actually need — without IT tickets.

Plant-grade security

Production stays segmented, monitored and protected — connectivity enabled without expanding the attack surface.

Future-extensible

New lines, plants, systems and analytics plug into the same fabric — accelerating every subsequent digital project.

Process

How we deliver.

A disciplined, engineer-led workflow built around the ACTIVE methodology — predictable scope, predictable cost, predictable outcomes.

  1. 01

    System landscape

Inventory of every system, protocol, data source, integration and stakeholder in scope — captured in a formal landscape map.

  2. 02

    Target architecture

Reference architecture for OT/IT convergence aligned to the Purdue model, IEC 62443 and your IT governance constraints.

  3. 03

    Roadmap

Phased integration roadmap that delivers measurable value early — not a 24-month big-bang programme.

  4. 04

    Build & connect

Implement middleware, historians, gateways, security controls and dashboards in iterative, testable releases.

  5. 05

    Validate

End-to-end data integrity, security, performance and disaster-recovery testing before any cutover to production.

  6. 06

    Run & extend

Operate the integration layer under SLA, govern change formally, and extend the fabric as new systems come online.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do we have to rip out our existing systems?

No. Integration is specifically about preserving what works and unifying it. We only recommend replacement when a legacy system is genuinely blocking your goals, unsupported, or actively unsafe.

How do you keep OT systems secure?

We segment OT from IT, enforce one-way data flows where appropriate, deploy industrial firewalls, log remote access, and implement IEC 62443-aligned controls including authentication, monitoring and least privilege.

Can you integrate with our ERP?

Yes. We have delivered integrations with SAP, Sage, Syspro and bespoke ERPs — typically via secure middleware, BAPIs or REST APIs rather than direct database access that creates fragility.

What does the unified dashboard run on?

We are platform-agnostic. Common choices include Ignition, AVEVA, Grafana, Power BI and custom web stacks — selected to fit your team's skills, licensing posture and long-term support model.

How do you handle change without breaking production?

Every change follows a documented Management of Change process with staging, rollback and validation — and is sequenced around production windows agreed with operations.

Will integration introduce latency to control systems?

No. Critical control loops remain on the plant network. Integration happens at supervisory and information layers, with clear separation between control and data flows.

Can you take over an existing integration mess?

Yes. We audit, document and stabilise the existing landscape first, then incrementally replace fragile components with maintainable middleware — without a forklift upgrade.

How is success measured?

Against agreed business and operational KPIs — typical examples include reduction in manual data capture hours, improvement in OEE accuracy, MTTR reduction and successful audit outcomes.
